Evil Season 5: Mike Colter Reveals What the Cancelled Story Would Have Been

Evil was one of the smartest, most distinctive genre series on television — a show that blended supernatural horror, psychological drama, dark comedy, and genuine theological inquiry in ways that no other programme was attempting. Its cancellation after four seasons left a dedicated fanbase grieving a story that clearly had much more left to tell. Now, two years later, star Mike Colter has shared what Season 5 would have looked like.

Colter, who played David Acosta — the devout forensic psychologist and aspiring priest at the centre of the show — revealed story details that paint a picture of a season that would have pushed the series into genuinely uncharted narrative territory. The character arcs, thematic escalations, and supernatural mysteries that creators Robert and Michelle King had planned speak to a creative vision that was nowhere near exhausted when the show ended.

Evil distinguished itself by taking its characters' faith seriously — not as a prop for horror set pieces, but as a genuine lens through which to examine questions of good, evil, doubt, and institutional corruption. The dynamic between Colter's David, Katja Herbers' Kristen Bouchard, and Aasif Mandvi's Ben Shakir was one of television's most enjoyable ensembles, and losing it prematurely still stings.

Colter's candid reflection on what might have been is both a gift to fans and a quiet reminder of how much intelligent, ambitious genre television still struggles to find the audience numbers it deserves. Evil deserved better — and these revealed details confirm that the story's unfinished business was genuinely worth telling.
